Deaf Dad/Husband One Eye Blind

(about 3 minutes and half video clip)

I want to thank Karen Mayes and Erick, the Deaf Parents of Deaf Children for sharing some of us their own experiences from Deaf Education life. I did enjoyed watching their own video clips! Amazing and AWESOME vlogging Deaf Parents!

If any of you have information about new laser technology, please do put down on my vlog comment with link. That will be gratefully appreciated. I have to respect my husband to take his own time to think about booking an appointment to see the Eye doctor for his other eye. I cannot force him. It is up to him. I have to respect him, "not dorm student" (he was a day student) and "Left Student" from SJI.

Happy viewing, DOH/DOD Dorm Students Advocating, Shawn

Not wanting to pry (be nosy) but what is the medical diagnosis for your husband?

If it is a retinal detachment, it is considered an emergency. Laser "surgery" is required to prevent further detachment from the eyewall.

I'm very very nearsighted so am at high risk for retinal detachment so I was told to see my eye doctor annually for check ups.

Dear ASLLisRisen's husband,

Before you check these links below, You are so lucky that your wife highly spoke about YOU! Isn't she sweet? :)

Here I could find the links for you to browse. One of my friends' father had LASIK Vision last year. He told me that he no longer wore glasses and also sees the color brighter. That's all I know..Take your time.

Haha, Blues Brothers!!! Awesome!! :)

Glad that your husband enjoys your vlogs before heading to bed!!

*looks at my snoring hubby* hehe ;)

As for the lasik information...I wish I could help out there, but Jared had a lot of comments offering some important information that your husband could look into?

Look at his blog here:

Laser Eye Surgery for a Deaf Person: Yes or No?

I wish him luck - I understand he had some scars and does not trust doctors...but at some point, he might gain confidence after doing extensive research and asking a lot of questions.

Don't pick the closest place but do pick the best service available !

I am not surprised that U of M here in Michigan is one of the best - my grandmother went there for her laser eye surgery and she is very, very happy with her 20/20 sight. This was done years ago - maybe five, six or so.

Good luck! :)
