Deaf Oral and Mainstream Education Harm Family Values!

Just want to express my own opinions and thoughts to support and give more feed backs by helping other Deaf vloggers to create their own express on their own video clips. Let us keep on saving ASL education for Family Values forever! Sorry I cannot make this transcript because I am not in the mood and need to get some more sleeping hours before go work and will be busy this weekend.

Oh one more thing before I forgot to let you know that I got email from NAD last Tuseday, October 23, 2007 about 2pm to response back my video comment on this link: http://blogs.nad.org/advocacy/?p=47 Her reply on down below was:

Hi Shawn,

Thanks for submitting your comment about NAD Takes Action for Deaf Babies. We are developing more material for the EHDI section of the web site, and we hope to do more vlogs in the future. I agree with you that state EHDI panels need to be more open to ASL. I hope to post some information about deaf community representation on EHDI panels soon.

Thanks again.

Hello!

I don't agree with your opinion about M A I N S T R E A M I N G...
I have a niece that goes to mainstreaming class in Florida and she is only 9 years old but my gosh, so talented and gifted. I know for a fact that mainstreaming is not for everyone and do better at deaf schools. That is not the case with my niece so I just wanted to clarify that. Thanks...

Hello there. You have an very interesting opinion upon Mainstream education that could harm Family Values.

I was raised in hearing family with 1 deaf sister. I was graduated in mainstream high school. It doesn't harm my family and our moral values. My dad don't really use ASL very much but he used home signs/sign language by mixing together. My mother sign in ASL sometimes SEE. Our family went thru successful even tho I was graduated in mainstreamed school. Apparently theres some mainstream student that I see doesn't able have good family, of course because the parents doesn't give any effort for the deaf kids. My parents did give a really wonderful effort to invloved my education which I am very lucky have them.

It's sad thats hearing parents doesn't try to understand or invlove the deaf kids thru mainstream education.

Hi Shawn
I am glad Barbara Raimondo took time to respond to your comment. She is a hearing mother of two Deaf children. Hope NAD will do more for our Deaf community.

Shawn:

That is good point! I fully agree about what causes problems. Not only that, it includes mental health problems.

Divorce may be higher among oral parents due to their shame, embarrassment and uncomfortable being with the rules of audism....

Oh! It sucks BIG time how audists ruin family values!

Keep up vlogging!

Good job!

=)

Hiya Shawn!!

Why not bring camcorder, surprise your husband, and video some of your son's football game....that would be a real nice surprise for him. What you think? :-)
